The Importance of Tire Rotations

A crucial factor in your vehicle’s health, efficiency and performance is getting regular tire rotations. A tire rotation is when the tires of your vehicle are moved from one position on the vehicle to another. The front tires will move to the rear and the rear tires will move to the front, typically in a cross-diagonal direction, meaning they will also change sides. Your vehicle carries more weight at the front, so front tires will typically wear out faster. Tire rotation is done to prevent the uneven wear this can cause and to prolong the life of your tires. Tire Rotations
 
Your tires should be rotated  at the same interval you get an oil change. The guidelines in your vehicle’s owner manual offer timing as well as the best rotation pattern for your vehicle and type of tires. The tires are the only part of the car which make direct contact with the road and influence your vehicle handling, ride, braking and safety. For optimum performance, tires must have the correct air pressure, tread depth, balance, proper alignment and regular rotation.  
 

Why are Regular Tire Rotations Important?

 
Extend Tire Tread — When tires are not rotated regularly, your tires will wear unevenly and cause many problems. Uneven tire wear will affect the performance of your tires and the handling of your vehicle. Worn tires become unstable and make driving dangerous. Uneven tire wear is the most common sign you can recognize to know your tires need to be rotated. Your tires will last longer with regular tire rotation.
 
Maximize Performance — Your tires contribute to how effectively your vehicle performs. Getting your tires rotated will help your vehicle be more efficient, provide a smoother more comfortable ride and extend the life of your tires. 
 
Increased Gas Mileage — Worn tires put a strain on your engine and increases your fuel consumption. When you rotate tires regularly, it decreases the amount of work it takes for the vehicle to drive and helps the engine to run more smoothly and efficiently, which decreases the amount of gas it takes to move the vehicle. 
 
Savings — You will be saving a lot by getting your tires properly rotated. You will save on fuel cost, needing to buy new tires and the expensive repairs caused by worn or uneven tread.
